The Lifecraft Experience, December 4th 2009

We held our Lifecraft Experience in the evening of December 4th 2009 so that people could find out more about our services as well as enjoy our art, poetry, food, music and newly refurbished building. One of the highlights of the night was The Kringe’s excellent performance of “Rum Fever” – a short play about two frustrated pirates shipwrecked on Mill Road and running out of rum.

Lifecraft Summer Day Trip to Southwold, August 8th 2009

Twenty eight members went on our Summer day trip to Southwold on August 8th 2009. Everyone had a wonderful day in the sunshine, visiting cafes, eating fish and chips and strolling along the beach and promenade. We would like to say a big thank you to the Cambridge Lions Club for donating £250 towards this trip for a second year running.

The Lifecraft arts and crafts stall at Strawberry Fair

On Saturday June 6th members and staff held Lifecraft's first ever arts and crafts stall at Strawberry Fair. It was an enjoyable sunny day and we made £27 profit, which wasn't bad going for a first attempt! Thank you to all who took part! We run a Making Things Group at 12pm every Friday so that we can make things to sell on this stall. Please do come along if you would like to get involved!

Making Mental Notes is profiled by BBC Look East on March 12th 2009 in the run up to Red Nose Day

Making Mental Notes on BBC Look East!

Making Mental Notes, Cambridge's mental health community radio programme at 209radio community radio (105FM), is supported by Comic Relief through Lifecraft as well as by Arts & Minds, Cam-mind, Rethink, Friends of Fulbourn and the Community, Manic Depression fellowship and Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

The programme is run entirely by people with direct experience of mental health issues who constitute the Production Team. Each programme broadcasts live for one hour every four weeks on 105FM. It addresses issues related to mental health and wellbeing via news and what's on bulletins, interviews, performances, requests, book/show reviews and discussions.

Making Mental Notes has successfully run eight outstanding programmes since it was first launched in June 2008. It has been so successful that Comic Relief chose to profile it as an example of the work that it supports in the UK in the lead up to Red Nose Day 2009 and so ran a short film piece on BBC Look East on Thursday 12th March between 6.30 and 7pm. This film piece was great piece of promotional work for Making Mental Notes and Lifecraft and we would like to thank all those involved, especially members of the Production Team who work so hard to produce each fantastic programme.
